Who We Are

Child Victims of War was initiated in June 2003, by a small group of Iraqi and British professionals based in the UK. Our concern is primarily with the environmental and health effects of modern warfare and the rights of the child under war and occupation.
 
 
Founders
 
Joanne Baker B.Ed, MSc
Joanne has been actively engaged with the humanitarian situation in Iraq since 1997. She is a teacher, human ecologist and human rights campaigner.
Abdul-Haq Al-Ani BSc, MSc, PhD Ceng, MIEE, MBCS, Member of the Inner Temple
Abdul-Haq was born in Baghdad and studied electrical engineering at Baghdad University and University College, London. After the Gulf War (1991) he retrained as a barrister and was called to the English Bar in 1996. He has been particularly active in the field of human rights.


  Trustees
Bridget Reisse BA (Hons)
Bridget is a film editor, an antiwar (and human rights) activist, and a founder member of the group Filmmakers Against War.
Lavinia Jowett BA (Hons.)
Lavinia's father worked in Iran and she has maintained a strong interest in Western policy in the Middle East. She manages a farm in Wiltshire.
